How do you find “Greatness”

I was thinking about how to find Greatness.

I can tell you how I started down the path to find mine. I’m reminded of a quote by Lao Tzu. It says "The journey of a thousand miles begins beneath one's feet."

He’s basically saying, you gotta start with where you are.

The minute, no, the second you actively and willingly get to know the full landscape around your currently held beliefs, misbeliefs, hopes, expectations, and dreams, you can begin your journey towards real Greatness.

Not the why of your landscape, or the how of your landscape. Just what it is.

I mean, how can you get to your future if you don’t know where you are?

Then, I had to figure out what I didn’t want BEFORE I could allow space for what I did want.

When my daddy used to plan our cross-country trips, he tried to avoid every sundown town and racist sheriff between us and my grandmother’s house in Texas.

He’d say, “I know which roads I don't want to take to get us there without going places I don't want us to go."

So that’s what I did. In search for my Greatness, I became active in finding out what my Nos were so I could find my Yeses. I learned that saying NO to what I absolutely did not want in my life, freed me from limiting my dreams.

I didn’t want a new job; I wanted a career. I didn’t want to jump into a new relationship, I just wanted to date.

I didn’t want more money (well, of course, I wanted more money) but what I wanted more was to have better control over the money I was spending.

By allowing me to let go and say NO, I was free to imagine, to consider "what if", in a good way. I started to see possibilities in everything and everywhere.

My path to possible Greatness was no longer blocked. I felt more hopeful. I liked being connected to my inner GPS.

It turned everything on; made the Light inside me shine brighter and settled a smile on my face.

That’s how I started on the path to finding my Greatness.

What are you willing to face to find yours?
